ABOUT MEGAN

With over 25 years of performance experience to her credit, Megan has appeared in Cabaret, Musical Theatre, Jazz and Classical engagements throughout Australia and Europe.

As writer/composer, Megan has presented works in national musical theatre festivals, written musical theatre scores for short film and been awarded a QNFA (for Best Original Screen Music) as Musical Director and Composer of the award-winning short film Blueberry Lane.

 

Her award-winning 2010 contemporary book musical Handle with Care (which showcased at the 2011 New Musicals Australia presentation - National Playwrights Festival) is in redevelopment, with her subsequent offering One in Seven completing its first development in late 2011 as part of the Fresh Ground initiative (JWC). Her latest musical book development - SPARK – took place at The Queensland Theatre Company, in early 2013 and then again in early 2015.

 

2013 also brought to the development stage THE25PROJECT - a new verbatim Music Theatre work that premiered in May. In early 2014 Megan was selected as a finalist for the Queensland Premier’s Drama Award, where her chamber musical One in Seven was developed with the assistance of the Queensland Theatre Company. For the Queensland Theatre Company, Megan has also worked as co-creative/Musical Director on the 2014 Senior Youth Ensemble's Saison de L'amour and Vocal Consultant on the national touring production of Black Diggers and productions of City Of Gold, Barbara and The Camp Dogs and most recently for Antigone, Return to the dirt, Othello and The Sunshine Club all for Queensland Theatre.

 

Megan teaches singing in the Musical Theatre Department of the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University, also acting as a contributing creative within the department as well as running her in-demand private voice studio, where she coaches emerging and established professionals in productions such as Frozen (West End/Australia), Cinderella, An American in Paris, Come From Away, Jagged Little Pill and Six.

Shorey continues to work as a highly regarded Vocal Consultant for many of Australia's leading production and theatre companies including Queensland Theatre, Belvoir and Griffin Theatre.
